Hauntfest and Cook Off
By Eli Zeiders
On Friday, October 25, CLC had their 2019
Haunted House, Carnival and Chilli Cook Off. Hauntfest was a way to help raise money for the 8th grade trip. The Chili Cook Off was held in the foyer. The games were held in the CLC Big Room, and the Haunted Houses were located in Brian’s and Kelly’s rooms. Every part of Hauntfest was set up by the 8th graders with the help of some of the teachers. There were 2 Haunted Houses. The first house was a visit to the doctor’s office where if you don’t run you get brain surgery, and it will hurt. Today it will be the zombies that will keep the doctor away. The next house will be a treat for behaving at the doctors. The clowns are pretty mad that you didn’t even consider going to the circus, so they interrupt the movie you are trying to enjoy. If they catch you, they will make you pay more than what you pay for the popcorn at the movie theater. The 2nd part of the carnival were the games. If, you won a game you got a little treat. There were several games, ghost shooting, eyeball toss, feel test, and more. I talked to a guest named JP, and I asked what his favorite game was. He said that his favorite game was the touch test where you put your hand in and you tried to guess what was inside the box. |
Finally the 3rd part of Hauntfest was the chili cook off. Most if not all of the 8th grade families brought in the chili. The chili was in the foyer. If you wanted chili, you had to buy a chili ticket to get a bowl of chili of your choice. I spoke with JP. He said “I didn’t get a chance to try the chili, but it all smelled delicious.”
I followed up with an email to an 8th grader who was apart of the first haunted house, Jack Winters. Jack said “We originally came up with the idea of a Ghostbusters theme, but that turned out to be too hard so we came up with the Idea of a Doctor Zombie theme in the end.” I asked Viviana, another 8th grader, how she came up with the Idea of the gost shooting game and the rules. Me and my teammate thought about Ghostbusters and how fun shooting ghosts are, and we came up with our games. Later the rules we just implied with the shooting part. Finally, I will be talking about the trip that the 8th graders will be attending at the end of the year. The 8th grade trip is a trip that all the 8th graders can take at the end of the year and it’s usually a big trip. For example last year they all went to Hershey park for the whole day rode rides, bought things, and ate so as you can imagine it takes them all year to make up that kind of money and they put a lot of work into making money for this trip. This is all the information I had on the Hauntfest I thank you for reading and I hope you learned a lot and I hope you can look forward to helping 8th graders reach their goal. |
